Cheyanne’s Journey to Healing with New York Gynecology Endometriosis
"Dr Singhal was the first person I saw when I woke up and explained everything to me again. There were no surprises going into the surgery except for what they found, which we knew was extensive. It turned out to be a very advanced stage of endometriosis, with 27 things moved. It had grown everywhere. Throughout the entire time, he was very encouraging and supportive.
There’s no other doctor I would feel comfortable with going through all of this, and today, I just had my second post-op appointment. Again, the support was incredible, answering all my questions without making me feel stupid or rushed. Even though I know he’s super busy, I’m really, really grateful to have found him. It’s wonderful to have a doctor who listens and believes that women’s health is just general health." - Cheyanne
So, for the last couple of years, I’ve had painful periods on and off. I saw my gynecologist, Dr. Livoti, who actually suspected endometriosis a couple of years ago, but it wasn’t consistent enough, so I never really followed up. I thought it would be fine.
In June of this year, out of nowhere, I couldn’t breathe or move. I was too embarrassed to go to the emergency room, even though I work in a hospital. I was too embarrassed for anything because I thought it was just in my head a little bit. I thought I was blowing it out of proportion, even though I knew I was in a lot of pain.
I had a really horrible experience with another doctor when I went to urgent care the following day. He was pretty dismissive and said, “Everyone gets abdominal pain.” He felt a little better after doing a manual gynecological exam, but he made a face and it was just not the best experience. I felt gaslit and had a lot of self-doubt. Dr. Livoti, who’s fantastic, recommended that I see Dr. Singhal immediately.
There was no question or anything. Dr. Livoti said, “I think you have endometriosis, and you need to see Dr. Singhal.” Dr. Livoti has been a family doctor for the longest time, so of course, I trusted him. Meeting Dr. Singhal and working with him has been the best experience I could have had in this situation.
Dr. Singhal squeezed me in immediately. When I did see him, there was no doubt, no gaslighting, and no questioning. He listened and said, “We’re going to take care of this.” We scheduled surgery very quickly. I had my surgery on the 8th, so that was 10 days ago. Even though he’s super busy, he made sure he met with me before surgery. My mom and I talked to him for a good 10-15 minutes, and he answered every little question I had.
